The fight for Illinois: Mitt Romney should be favored in Illinois, which holds its primary tomorrow. And the latest poll from PPP shows Romney opening up a big 15-point lead over Rick Santorum. Makes sense, considering the state's history of supporting moderate Republicans. But Romney's rightward shift has troubled moderates, and other Illinois Republicans say there's no spark for him in Illinois. Yet Romney could once again be on the verge of a big win tomorrow night.
Romney also easily won Sunday's primary in Puerto Rico, taking all 20 delegates. But despite the fact that he keeps racking up delegates, the party doesn't seem enthused about his campaign. And that may explain why Republicans are gearing up for what may be a contested convention this August in Tampa.
Romney says he's an economic heavyweight who knows how to fix the economy. David Axelrod begs to differ, saying Romney - who led Massachusetts to the 47th best record of job creation when he was governor - must be looking in a funhouse mirror.
Here's a profile in courage: Santorum says he regrets having supported Arlen Specter.

I can see a political pundit wanting a constitutionalconvention (it will be good for business), Santorium win is possible in brokered convention? Why?
C.W. is (most people anyway) that the Republicans cannot be that stupid? Their base, above else is their need to be right, in spite of them selves.
2nd, To them, Mormonism is a cult (whom they dislike as much as Jehovah Witnesses).
3rd, I think it would be good to see "Santorum/Republicans" getting their butts kicked! It would be like their latest (3rd I believe) "Great Awakening" that turns into their "Great Disappointment."
I do not express this out of malice, but that of concern, and maybe rational people will start running things in the political arena again, as the pendulum swings toward the center again!
A much bigger concern though as I understand this (if true), that former removed judge Roy Moore (for not following the law of separation of church and state) has been elected now to the state supreme court, how could this be, and if true, why is it not covered, or whatever?
Romney's measured statement about Afghanistan was spot on. Know you and Ed cannot stand when Romney actually responds in a wise and measured way you cannot stand it. You know Romney is more than likely going to be the candidate once he gets around the radical right in control of the Republican party. Now I have never ever voted for a Republican in a national election and more than likely will not in November. For me the big decision will be made on war talk with Iran. Obama is not looking so good and Romney even less with Max Boot and David Kagan as his foreign policy advisers and his recent go get Iran chest beating. But Obama continually rolling over to Israel and the I lobby on this issue is absolutely disgusting. When are you going to have Flynt and Hillary Mann Levertt on your show to discuss Iran based on their in depth knowledge (RACE FOR IRAN).
Was great to finally hear you mention that oil speculators are literally banking on a war with Iran. Chris Hayes, Fareed Zakaria have focused on this. But no one has had Ohio's Senator Sherrod Brown on who is pushing for hammering on oil speculators. Will you have him on to discuss this issue?

Chris might want to start watching Chris Hayes program. Going where you have been unwilling to go on the international front etc. Have Antonia Juhasz on your program to discuss the Wall Street debacle and oil speculation. She is clear, concise and totally easy to understand

Top Ten Catholic Teachings Santorum Ignores [Reprint Edn.]

Rick Santorum is claiming that if he wins the Illinois primary, he has virtually won the Republican nomination. It seems an appropriate time for this golden oldie:
The right wing Republican politicians who have been denouncing the requirement that female employees have access to birth control as part of their health benefits as an attack on religious freedom completely ignore the church teachings they don’t agree with. Rick Santorum and Newt Gingrich are both Catholics, and wear their faith on their sleeves, but they are hypocritical in picking and choosing when they wish to listen to the bishops.
1. So for instance, Pope John Paul II was against anyone going to war against Iraq I think you’ll find that Rick Santorum managed to ignore that Catholic teaching.
Having been brought up Catholic 12 years of Notre Dame nuns (some of them amazing examples of compassion and justice in action). Have always been amazed by candidates like Santorum other alleged religious candidates like Palin, Gingrich, Boehner who parade these alleged religious beliefs across the nation’s stage while they hide selfish and anti life stances behind little crosses around their necks. Anti life against health care for all, equity in education, fair wages. For unnecessary wars that kill innocents. These people are not pro life they are pro fetus
If the poll numbers on Romney are accurate, we'll see again the effects of the Super-PAC money and negative ad campaigning...
if it's a close election and Santorum over-performs as pundits have characterized his campaign, then it will be apparent that Mitt is not getting a lot of bang for his buck.
One hopes the money spent is proving a stimulus to the economy.
Way to go Santorum, loses Puerto Rico, a state he could have won - but blows it all when he tells them to 'learn to speak english'
The GOP or doomed!
