Worries about the economy, and with it the president's re-election
The Wall Street Journal and The New York Times both have lead stories about the gathering storms that may cause the economic recovery to falter.
The good news for the White House: Pres. Obama is in as good shape as Bill Clinton and George W. Bush were at this time during their presidencies.
Rather than let Mitt Romney come back to the political center, and tag him as a flip-flopper, Team Obama wants to keep him as the 'severely conservative' candidate he ran as during the primaries. They want to paint him as an extremist.
Does the establishment of the Republican Party think Mitt Romney can win? There are doubts...
The Secret Service Sex Scandal: More agents could be fired soon, says Rep. Elijah Cummings. Meanwhile, the ousted agents have been identified. And Sarah Palin responds to one of the agents who said on his Facebook page that - when he protected Palin - he was actually "checking her out".
Veepstakes: There's one potential running mate that would put Romney in a tie with Pres. Obama. And there are others who don't help him nearly as much. Check out the new polling here.
Michele Bachmann said Pres. Obama is "waving a tar baby in the air" on gas prices. Was that really the best choice of words the congresswoman could have made?

Addressing what Wall Street Journal and the New York Times has to say
IRAN MYTHS PERPETUATED BY THE WALL STREET JOURNAL AND THE NEW YORK TIMES
http://www.raceforiran.com/iran-myths-perpetuated-by-the-wall-street-journal-and-the-new-york-times
In the run-up to this weekend’s P5+1 “negotiations” with the Islamic Republic, two of America’s leading newspapers published stories reflecting deep-seated myths about the Islamic Republic rather than reporting on real facts.
First, Farnaz Fassihi of The Wall Street Journal “reported”, see here, on the perennial myth that internal divisions had “seeped” into the nuclear file and could derail any talks with Iran. She then asserts that “Iran suspended the talks in 2009 after massive demonstrations against the government for alleged voter fraud in the presidential elections.” This is blatantly misleading.
–Fassihi was in Iran in 2009; she must know that there were no talks going on at the time of the Islamic Republic’s presidential contest in June of that year, so there was nothing to suspend. The United States had deliberately delayed going into negotiations so as not to give incumbent President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad a “boost” before the election.

Chris,, with Michelle Bachman comment of "Tarbaby" Nah, I think Backman may of been innocent with mis-speach, she simply is not clever enough to come up with it?
Romney should start taking advice from mika to the Republican party, that America was all future and not past.indeed, conservatism in America has been most cases, nothing but frozen revolution, here conservatism never really could develop,B'cos there was nothing to look backwards to.@.please let democrats takes the nation FORWARD.@
I love how the authors of the Wall Street Journal and NYT articles write that the economy has been getting better and unemployment going down but they just feel and know it's going to get worse. They also say the unemployment rate has only gotten worse over the three years of Obamas Presidency which of course is true if you only look from the beginning and then skip to the end but that seems really strange for two authors that spend so much time over-analyzing every other statistic. In reality the unemployment rate has only gotten better since October 2010.
There are no gathering storms only suppositions and wishes and perhaps signals to conservative employers.
As for Mitt winning as I have said for months now Obama is ahead in 11 out of 13 measurable categories. The economy is only one and despite what the media and the right wing may hope for, 8 out of 13 is enough to get a win.
Im sorry I made a mistake. The peak unemployment rate was in 12/09, not 11/10. That's 28 months, or almost 2.5 years of improvement.
sed, am i wrong or did you say the nyt is rw media? now lets keep this simple. i enjoy your posts but at times you tend to over analyze. will minorities vote for obama in the same numbers as in 08? i think not. the wall st. journal and nyt are meaningless as this election will come down to about 6k voters in swingstates. obama seems to have his biggest leads in calif and ny which means nothing. hes going to win there anyway. you seem to have the manhattan malibu view that the rest of the country must bow and do their bidding. karl rove is about to unleash 300 million $ in attack ads mainly in swingstates. it will be something to behold. obamas problem is he now has a record besides voting present. his signiture legislation obama care is about to be shot down by the ussc. rove will stress obamas ignorance of the constitution. btw as obama taught constitutional law can his students get a refund? unemployment will teeter around 8% in the next 6 months which is bad news for obama. its funny watching the pundits on msnbc speak of obama leading with women and minorities. duh. gore and kerry led bush in both catigories and lost. as clinton said the thing he worried most about was gas prices obama looks foolish saying its not his fault as he bashed bush over gas prices. seems im over analyzing so i yield the floor to you.
Thanks for yielding the floor to me Mika. I'm glad you, Rove and the guys at Fox all believe you know more about constitutional law than Obama who as you mentioned is a constitutional law professor. HA! Incidentally have you ever read the constitution? Try it sometime. Our founders wrote it in such a way so as to make sure it was wide open to interpretation (and I minored in constitutional/international law).
Let's be clear, if you think that these clowns in the SCOTUS and by clowns I am specifically referring to the 5 guys you love, are making decisions based upon constitutional law and not upon the best interests of their corporate benefactors and millionaire friends than you are sorely naive. There isn't anyone, even the most right wing of the regressive republicans who believe that. The Bush vrs Gore decision, The Citizens United Decision, the recent Florence vrs Board of Chosen Freeholders (body cavity search) decision all show pure partisan politics and a severe erosion of our rights and freedoms. For this reason alone all Americans shouldn't vote republican for another three decades to bring this country back into balance and that's just plain logic.
Where's your head Chris?? You look at Andy Card in the eye at tell him he's great?!!!
He's just another GOP butthead wh
o professes the same policies that almost destroyed our Nation and you think he's great?!!! I'm about to quit watching your show ... I'll opt for The Young Turks on Current TV. A place where honesty still exists !!!
richard, if you want to broaden your political perspective i suggest you watch other shows besides hardball. chris was one of the best in the business until obama entered the national picture. suddenly he became a 15 yearold boy seeing his 1st playboy magazine. when he likened obama to the 2nd coming i knew he was a goner. chris is totally in love with him. his eyes seem to melt when he talks of him. i still watched hardball thinking it was just an infatuation but its true love. now i know dems like to think of their politicians as superhuman figures but this is ridiculous. i suggest morning joe, oreilly, anderson cooper. oreilly used to be far out but hes mellowed with age. msnbc is basically the minor leagues with hosts that know theyll never be in the big leagues and are bitter. lol i watched bashir once and couldnt stop laughing. i really thought i was watching comedy central. seems im rambling so just do as i suggest.
NON-Backdownist,can Obama and Chris enjoy their WEEKEND?mika from calmmie#you wrong on O'reilly,Aged is not changing this FOXPREYist,he is WORST.@
Sed, SL Cabbie: I think maybe with Mika and Kathleen I figured out why they have this strange fixation to focus on the political insignificant, and overall idea seems to elude them.
Man are from Mars, Women are from Venus! Women like to vent about problem, don't want a solution, just vent! Man just want solve problem, overall!
Well, the "outer space" analogy is particularly apropos, that's a fersher...
