Here We Go Again
Debt Ceiling Fight... the Sequel: House Speaker John Boehner is promising another bruising battle over raising the debt ceiling -- this time right in the middle of the presidential election campaign. Boehner has become Mitt Romney's top ally on Capitol Hill, and this move is part of a multi-pronged assault by the Romney campaign to portray President Obama as an ineffective steward of the economy. But it's grossly irresponsible to go back on last year's deal and hold the nation's credit rating hostage again for more domestic spending cuts while maintaining the Bush tax cuts. Once again, the Republicans are proving they're not a governing party, but a party of no.
Don't miss Nate Silver's analysis of where the presidential race stands right now.
14 female Republican members of the House say their party is the "real party for American women."
Grover Norquist argues Mitt Romney's best choice for running mate is Louisiana governor Bobby Jindal.
And in Nebraska last night, the establishment was beaten by a state senator seeking statewide office for the first time: Deb Fischer has captured the GOP nomination for U.S. Senate, and now she'll face off against former senator Bob Kerrey for the seat. Fischer was endorsed by Sarah Palin late in the primary campaign.

It is my belief that the republicans are ready with their so-called 2 prong attack on the president on the raising of the debt ceiling, but it is also my belief, that the president will be more than ready this time. This man (the president) is nobody's fool and he will have some moves of his own to counter any move that they make. So, the way I see it, not only will it be "check", but very possibly "check mate"
In my 50years of following the politics of this great country I have never had to hang my head in shame , but times change and in our times for the worst. Not only have we reached a point where the President is treated with disrespect by the "nut cases". he is also disrespected by elected people.
Sad, sad and all the time the needs of the PEOPLE are pushed to the side by big money!
Mr.Matthews I want to take this time to thank you and media people like you for standing your ground..........You give credit to your profession.
Disrespect for the President didn't start with the last president but definitely, the nuts showed up in droves calling Bush a "Nazi". Talk about disrespect when Candidate Clinton was debating President Bush for office, he addressed the President, through the whole debate as " Mr Bush" talk about disrespect. President Clinton wouldn't even give respect to the office he was seeking.
Good to see you complain about big money when President Obama has recieved more money from Wall Street for his first election that ANY other president.
If you think Chris gives credit to his profession, your other new source must be Jon Steward. The Washington post and CNN have both taken a stance contrary to Chris on a few of his last stories.
Even Sarah Palin could out do Chris in a game of Jeopardy.
Chris Matthews' record on Jeopardy: A win, a close second place finish, and third...
And a little e-mail reply to a cabdriver where he praised his opponents. That's class and sportsmanship, guy...
Meanwhile John Boehner is standing on a window ledge with a rope tying him to our heroine, the American Economy, and announcing loudly, "Nobody move, or I'll jump!"
And why are you hollering about Wall Street and Obama in '08 and saying nothing about Wall Street and Romney in 2012?
BTW, for all that dissin' that Clinton allegedly aimed at Bush '41, they seem to be pretty close right now...
Chemdmd: Im not sure what you're talking about. Nut's calling Bush a Nazi? There are dozens and dozens of pictures and recordings of Tea baggers and regular extremist Republicans with signs calling Obama (and Clinton for that matter) not only a Nazi but much much worse. Can you produce ANY proof of the opposite besides simple accusations and false memories?
As far as referring to someone as 'Mr.', both sides have done that for years and still do, but as far as I know that is not a sign of disrespect, I was raised to use that as a sign of respect. Now if I called you a secret muslim, knowing you weren't and knowing we were at war with muslims, that would be a sign of disrespect. Obfuscation, look it up.
The "nutjobs" again want to get on that train (holding debt hostage), they believe that when or if it happens, that they will say it was Obama fault (like they did last time), last time it did not work, they feel this time it will!
As far of gay marriage bans in 32 states, vast many of this legislation passing, votes were done on same time of republican primary, just like majority of all their batsh**, they always go for social conservative views and cramming down everyone else throat by bringing vote in off years or primaries, it is smart tactic, but very bad for country!
Maybe Dem's should counter act such legislation with time to be voted on during presidential election, this way more of left and moderate people whom are the majority will have a chance to way in?
It should be the job of the media (since the schools obviously aren't doing it) to remind everyone that this "debt ceiling" drama is simply that, a drama that the Republicans love to act out like a Shakespearian play whenever a Democrat is President. I recall ole Newt doing the same thing when Clinton was President and, of course shutting down the government then too.
The facts that Republicans don't want to remember or admit however is that their irresponsible economic policies over the past 30 years and 5 Presidents are what keep this country in debt and economic failure. it was only Clinton and the Democratic policies that ever balanced the budget and got us out of our economic problems which is exactly why the Republicans in the Senate and the House have obstructed and obfuscated EVERY one of Obama's/Pelosi's policies. They truly want this country in economic despair so they can keep wages low and benefits nil. Voting Republican is for those susceptible to propaganda, lies and the worst kind of false logic.
An interesting insight to the right wing conservative mind occurred this week when Facebook co-founder Edwardo Saverin renounced his US citizenship in an effort to avoid higher tax rates before the company's IPO. The rich editors at Forbes magazine called him an American hero for RENOUNCING his AMERICAN CITIZENSHIP to avoid paying taxes here.
Taxes are used to among other things support our military, support our infrastructure, pay for our first responders and our poor and disabled. They support our society. We aren't the only society that has taxes and we pay far lower taxes than most nations despite what the right wing networks tell you.
The super rich like Saverin, the gentlemen at Forbes, and the Republican leaders refuse to raise taxes 2%-3% on second $1,000,000 + made by those in this nation. NOT the first million. Those of us (99%) who are seriously struggling especially starving kids and disabled, elderly, women and vets really need help and the safety net is the only help they're getting. But the Republicans want and are cutting that help. They also want to cut their healthcare. This is serious pain for those at the bottom. Raising taxes 2%-3% on millionaires causes ZERO pain for millionaires and O&G companies. They have made their profits off the backs of the 99% much of it FROM TAX DOLLARS. They have had tax cuts for 30 years as well as TAX BREAKS AND SUBSIDIES and these greedy bastards refuse to give back to their own country? Now they are actually re-nouncing their citizenship while calling themselves "AMERICAN HEROS?"
Go ahead you losers keep voting Republican but I didn't serve in the military for any traitor who is willing to become a citizen of another country, pay taxes there and support those citizens after WE MADE THEM AND THEIR BUDDIES RICH HERE.
Chris Matthews, you must love the sound of your own voice. I don't know why I keep watching your show, because you never let your guests get a word in edge-wise! You talk over them, interrupt them and otherwise make it it really hard to hear what they're saying, because your lips are flapping constantly. And not only that, you shorten your words like you're too lazy to pronounce them right. Like Washington. To you it's Washton. I always watch MSNBC shows and love them, but not one of the commentators are as rude as you are. Stop it!
Chris don't understand how to define Romney in undisputed, black and white, right and wrong, good and evil manner. The inconvenient truth is Romney is much more complex person than Chis. Simple system cannot define multidimensional one.
Since the moment when 25% sealing candidate won primaries there is nothing that can stop him in general elections. Like in game of chess amateur player understands its lost only after checkmate word sound. The same Obama team just doesn't know that competition is already over. Several power moves like freedom for Zimmerman and rejection of riots, economic collapse, some digging Obama's dirt like dog eating and drag addiction or love for corruption; traps forcing to contradict himself prepared by good homework before debates race is finished and all hopes of progressives to stop progress will be just bad American dreams.
America will not commit suicide with Obama, no way.
Ha ha ha... Romney is so complex because he embraces every side of every issue and simpletons like you and the majority of the Republican audience just hears what they want to hear and disregards the rest. You vote the Republican label while cursing Obama healthcare even though it was Romneys plan. You hate gays even though Romney was more pro-Gay than Kennedy. You say Obama is pro tax even though he hasn't raised taxes but Romney did as Governor. You say Romney will create jobs but Romney was basically the worst job creator as Governor and Obama has been great given the horrible circumstances (ask any legitimate economist including Reagans), even with the unmatched obstruction of the Republican House and Senate.
Idiocy isn't attractive and one day your kids may read what you write here. Hopefully their IQ's will exceed yours.
Dear Sedwinmars,
In impulse of generosity I will share with you one trick how not to lose face in discussion. Newer ever call anybody stupid. Obama lost his presidency when he said that Cambridge police acted stupidly. That was the end. Nobody except few oversensitive individuals like me knew then that presidency of Obama was over in that moment. You reputation has bad black spot now.
You, obamanoids, hope that sophisticated manipulation with words could create winning arguments. Let me give an example:
"War on women" = "military actions against gals"...?
If you like democratic ghost writer produces so complex argumentation with abundance of logical mistakes that only similar financed obamanists is able to enjoy it will not produce any results. Besides you are not trying real hard, copy-pasting democratic quotations book. You can do better I hope. Otherwise it will be not fun to read your empty minded posts any more.
Sedwinmar on LeoKrut,
Sed, you have to understand LeoKrut (well I know you do anyway), he is another conservative chicken-hawk, a simple coward, he respects military service today, but probably spit on any veteran that did not agree with his batsh**, just like when Cheney, Beck, Rush, Hannity said a decorated veteran was a traitor, for not agreeing with his/their nonsense! As I remember the Vet replying "come and see me and say it to my face," of coarse, none of them did!
He has an Ideology disease making him unable to comprehend complex subjects, that is bringing information of facts together! So he and other conservatives will just ignore facts, they call it "Stinkin-thinking!" With the fusion of TV/mega-church evangelicalism and right-wing conservative ideology, along with the gospel of Ann Rand, Fox News and Clear Channel, the indoctrination starts in there private, charter, or home-schools! Their great institutions of wisdom (Liberty, Regent and any strip-mall bible college) tell them thinking gets in the way, and to find the truth, you have to ignore it!
So ipso facto, LeoKrut is really, indirectly speaking for God, God is on his side and Jesus loves guns, tax-credits (to solve any problem in America) and no-load mutual funds! LeoKrut wheres his willful ignorance like a badge of honor, just like when Dan Quayle attacked "Murphy Brown" for causing all societies ills, and picking on dads of America. Quayle's stupidity was rebuffed with "I wear it like a badge of honor."
I bet LeoKrut has good penmanship, and is a very good "sheepel." Why even bother with a conservative stooge? But I do enjoy you kick-in his butt on the blogs!
Ricky,
You almost 100% wrong about me. I am using word "almost" only in abundance of conscious. Really diagonal reading your fantasies I cannot find even one hit. And it is only because your intellectual laziness that I can notice is an attribute of obamanoids.
Let me ask you several questions? Can you define a term "ideology" and describe your own? Did you ever read "Manifesto of the communist party" by Karl Marx? Do you know that he was materialist? Do you believe in God or in science or in whatever depend on political convenience?
Patiently waiting your response, my funny friend.
LeoKrut: I only call you stupid because the shoe fits. As for losing face do you actually think I believe I ever had your "respect?" Of course not! Look what you say about our Commander-in-Chief! You have no idea what honor, respect or duty are.
I am on this site saying what I say because of the absolutely outrageous things the right wingers say daily in 95% of the mainstream media. You dare reference the "war on women" when Rush Limberger the guy who really started the media aspect of that has referred to liberal women as "femiNazis" for years now. Give me a break! There has been no left wing counterpart until lately. Understand 99.9% of what I say is tongue in cheek and makes me (at least) laugh hysterically, because idiots like you take it so seriously and truly are so misinformed and stupid.
Is it really your face? Nobody can be so handsome... It must be Photoshop.
By the way... I permit you addressing me "Sir".
No need to thank you so deserve the privilege.
Why thank you, Sir Leo!
We can't stop the Supreme Courts ruling. But we can do this!

i wonder why they didn't invite Plin and Bacheman.....what a mess that would of been
The "tea-party" candidates winning Republican primaries are so extreme that when juxtaposed to the Democratic rival they lose in spite of the Democrats cowardice in leadership.
