Who's More American?
The presidential campaign between Barack Obama and Mitt Romney is boiling down to a fight where each side is trying to portray the other guy as not like the rest of us. Romney charges that Obama doesn't "believe in America" while Obama looks to paint Romney as a rich guy who sent jobs and his own bank accounts overseas. Which narrative will win the day? And which one is more damaging to the candidate leveling the charge?
President Obama made his boldest statement yet on gun control in the wake of the massacre in Colorado, and there are political risks. Contrast that with what Romney told NBC's Brian Williams about the need for new gun laws.
Why is Mitt Romney so historically un-loved in the state he served as governor?
This won't help the Republican effort to downplay President Obama's decision to get bin Laden: Adm. Bill McRaven, head of U.S. Special Operations Command who oversaw the bin Laden raid, called the president "fantastic" and said that "at the end of the day, make no mistake about it, it was the president of the United States that shouldered the burden of this operation, that made the hard decision."

Olympic games gives second gift to Romney. Its NBC translation wipes out big chunk of democrats propaganda from the air. In close election even point or two of electorate can make a difference. Interesting to wonder how the decision was made by NBC management. Pro and cons. NBC was much respectful in opposition as intelligentsia are natural moralizers and yammers not accomplishers.
Decision to broadcast Olympics was pure monetary decision that networks fight over every Olympics season and has nothing to do with politics. It's hilarious that you believe MSNBC is liberal. Tell Joe Scarborough, Andrea Mitchell, etc., that!
As far as the myth that Flipper the Mitt is Mr. Olympics goes it's also fascinating that Flipper the Mitt borrowed millions of taxpayer dollars to bailout the Olympics, creating a few thousand jobs that lasted a couple of weeks but was against Obama's bailout of the auto industry that saved 1.1 million jobs that have lasted for years and will probably last for decades and have made us the number one auto makers in the world again. This and the auto industry has already started paying us back what we loaned them for that bailout that Flipper was totally against and wanted to see fail and whose jobs and industry Flipper wanted shipped overseas to Europe or Asia.
!
Flipper the Mitt is actually in England holding fundraisers with the banking criminals who were responsible for the LIBOR scandal that was responsible for stealing hundreds of TRILLIONS of dollars around the world (our GDP is 15 trillion) and the British members of parliament are furious that he and they are doing so in the midst of this massive criminal investigation. I believe Flipper the Mitt is charging $25,000 a plate for his "dinner" contribution party and he is the one who is claiming he is going to fix our economy?
The Barclays CEO Bob Diamond resigned in disgrace for his involvement in the LIBOR scandal and had to cancel his fundraising efforts which he had previously scheduled for Flipper the Mitt here in the US. It really makes one wonder just how connected Flipper was to all of this and just what exactly is in Flippers tax returns. The ante is being raised every day when the guy running for President for the Republican party is hanging out with known criminals and getting money from known criminals who are the ones who were responsible for crashing the worlds economy.
Lying about President Obama and blaming the bad economy on him is one thing but actually hanging out with those actually responsible and taking their money while they are actually being investigated for those very crimes shows real disregard for truth, justice and the American people!
Well it seems that the Brits have now booed Flipper the Mitt for not only what I have mentioned above but also because he said they don't know how to handle the Olympics and because of his now infamous "Anglo Saxon" comment. So it's nice to know he's already hated by our biggest ally and he's several months out from the November election.
Yeah he'd make a great President! NOT!
Yeah Leo. You really ought to be the change you want to see in the world too! You may remember when I started posting here, I was not fully engaged against Mitt Romney (check my postings (May 2012)).
I became tepid of Mitt Romney when he pulled a "Palin". For example: Barack Obama this, President Obama that.
Also, Romney pulled a "Rudy": A noun-a verb-Barrack Obama!
No matter the debate or the personal question, Mr. Romney has told us nothing useful or remotely interesting about himself over the accumulated mass media. Heavens, he won't even give FOX NEWS the "scoop" .
Back to you. What am I to infer about you? Are you really extending a welcome to an UNKNOWN QUANTITY running for and perchance winning the Office of President of the United States? Are you so enamored with Mr. Romney's words that you don't want to even hear a description of who he is from the man himself?
I would not accept such arrogant conduct from President Obama, all things considered (he's a sitting President), why should I accept this from some wannabe President? If Mitt Romney wants to be a businessman than go be that from now on, and no one will ask him to produce anything beyond corporate norms.
To be sure. I have no less than thirty severely critical letters/articles written about the POTUS policies performance early on. However, Flipper the Mitt and the other Republican candidates are truly vapid mannequins who only wish to return to proven failed policy. And the Republican Congressmen have been FAR worse refusing to do anything except passing legislation they know has been ruled illegal by the Supreme Court and legislation that repeals the rights of women, minorities and children as well as inhibiting the rights of American citizens to vote.
There is something seriously wrong with the Republican party.
Calbab,
I know nothing about you. You can learn probably all publicly available facts about me. And you have a nerve to rant about how I irresponsible to accept unknown entity as candidate to President. All I need to know I do - Romney is associated with success; Obama is associated with rhetoric I don't want to hear any more. Never. Period.
By the way you can check my video where on about 6th min of footage Mika telling about peoples like you and other Obamanoids with single task - mud political opponents by any means available or invented for the occasion. It is safe to do such barking job as anonymous, as you. Romney will not spent one moment to tracking such small crickets for revenge when he will President. What will be real awkward is to observe re-evolution people like you into loyal supporters of President Romney.
Conformists...
Now who is ranting?
Lastly, you are confusing me. Isn't this discussion primarily about public officials, or those who wish to be public officials?
Lastly, a decent professional man or woman-using the so-named, "80-20 rule"-will make reasonable decisions, rational remarks, and deliver profound actions the majority of the time, no matter their political party persuasion.
For me, Mitt Romney has not shown himself to be presidential material!
One more thing.
I and others here have taken great pains (you have too, I suppose) on this Board to illustrate with words, and media weblinks facts and figures that make the Case For or Case Against one or several presidential Candidates.
If money is the be all that ends all for you, than there is not much I can do or say that will persuade you to support PRESIDENT OBAMA. Barack, the man, has stated from his own mouth that his ideas about HOPE AND CHANGE have more to do with 'people isssues than money per se.
My opinion:
If you or House and Senate Republicans thought for any period of time that Barack Obama was running as a "money" President, you are collectively mistaken. Remember this: In 2007, Barack Obama announced his 2008 run for President BEFORE the recession was declared! The 2008 democrat platform for "HOPE and CHANGE" was not about wealth for wealth sake!
Calbab,
You are.
testing
I would say the individual who has invested more time more support for what benefits the majority of Americans in constructive and measurable ways.
OBAMA is for 98% of the American mitt is for the rich and oil companies that are making record profits yet the right fights for tax breaks for them.So you tell me who is more American.

TAX HAVENS: SUPER RICH 'HIDING' AT LEAST 12 TRILLION DOLLARS.
Please review and watch the video on the article. I would like your thoughts.
Pure unadulterated greed. These guys are like Smaug the Great Dragon sitting on piles of gold in a cave. It does absolutely no good for anyone. Not themselves, their family and least of all society. It's sociopathic behavior. These are not smart men and women. Nor are they brave. When people claim they understand business, economy and risky behavior this proves that those statements are far from the truth. These people are scared, small minded hoarders who need to see psychiatrists, and whose money needs to be taxed at 90% to make sure that it will be invested back into the worlds economies.
How much work has Romney done with poor and middle class people? How much time does he spend with them? What does he know about them (such as the fact that they exist)? Does he know what the minimum wage is, or what percentage of workers are paid minimum wage or less? Does he know how to buy a quart of milk at the grocery store? Did he ever ride a city bus? Ever stop off for a cold one after work?
The two-party system has thus been endangered because this misfeasance on the part of the Republican party has left the enlightened, the rational, the prudent, the responsible American voter no acceptable other choice in this Election. He is not even giving the option of an ECHO.He is given only the option of a question MARK.@
Well of coarse you are right, I played to many games of "Risk" in my life. If you ever get a chance to visit Nordic Countries, you may be surprised that you find for the trade-off of high taxes, what they are getting in return, and A dumb-ass, would only "poo-pooh" it.
No this, I am a capitalist, but I like big safety-net, probably because of being on both side of tracks in my life. In truth, I guess I am a big believer in a mixed economy. Also, I used to by into the conservative line, but no longer, the right-wing batsh*t is just way too much!
I know the Nordic Countries do not have large military's and are very homo-genious. In the 80's I paid into max %brackets and would pass fica cutoff after 4 months, I know what it is like to pay in 40+% bracket along with state and local taxes, probably 50%! So What? The country was better then!!!!
If the country is polarized, and I do not want to live under some type of corporate/christian states of America, have Lynchburg running social programs, run entitlement programs or having them legislate their crap down my throat, if heaven is fill of tea-evangelicals, maybe I don't want to go there either? I am not against God or Prayer, but f**k the christian Taliban!!!!!!!
Yes, I am having 2Nd thoughts about outcome of civil war, reconstruction, revenue producing southern chain-gangs, segregation (gated communities & Indoctrination private/religious schools) has not gone away, the premise of corporate will over people, turn of the century economics, etc., etc., !!!!!
The South has not changed, they still think it that their George Wallace/John Bircher style of thinking, or Texas lock-and-load mentality is just OK! They do not believe in civil rights or fair sense of justice or fairness period! Hell, the ACLU is an evil organization, please!!
Rich people are job creators, please!! I worked at Merrill in Boca (vast majority made their money on money and there goals was to always get rid of employees) They sell this country out so fast and laugh at the stupid social conservatives for doing there bidding, it is a big joke! It is not sour-grapes, just obvious!
So why not consider some type of break-up, I mean repub club/conservatives hate government, hate taxes for the well off, idolize the few have's and screw the have-nots, and do not think anyone whom disagrees with them of even being a true American! I hear them, loud and clear! Health care a privilege?????
Maybe a parallel running from under Tenn. to above LA County. The NE and NW Regions one country and the Cristian/Corp. States of America the SE and SW! During separation period, say 5-10 years, people get to decide which is the better utopia to live in and be part of!
The South can have no minimun wage, forced prayer, no social programs, women would become chattel again, only white people of good christian values would be able to vote, theocracy/plutocracy, no more law-suits and tort reform, men would settle differences like men and have gun-fights like in the good ole days of the West, Hell they could even bring back "he-haw", and the whole litany of conservative wish-list!!!!!!!!Ferangi Capitism at it's best!!!!
I could see a North with living wages, great education advantages, re-training (planning if industry going off-shore), health-care, great science strides (not having to answer to church/repub club or Fox News) A place where rich are respected because they are paying alot of tax, to help support the whole and advance culture, where women are treated as grown-ups and have control of their bodies.
Yeah, maybe seperate and divorce, no revolution, nobody killed, just split up expenses, land, and other advantage/dis-advantage, just split it up, and start anew, See which side progess the most further, I pick the North anyday!
Yeah, I am fantasizing from my "risk days." But I do believe a (new blue states)Northern States of America, with much closer ties to Canada, Nordic Countries, Great Britain, Ireland, Germany, maybe even similar tax policies (yes, probably higher), countries stretching from America's to the Baltic with great amounts of land resources, people (about 400+ million), homogeneous to the extent of thinking alike, practical, with high aspirations in science, arts, exploration, excellence, instead of lip-service south, there would be attitude of thy brothers keeper!
Individualism is a great thing, and striding for it's a great thing, but the only thing, I don't think so!!!!!
Money cannot be the end all, there has to be more then that, society can do better!
Hell, maybe even join the E.U., maybe the Northern E.U. of American and Baltic States, with enough land for people to be strong and yet not have to be on top of each other!
Very far-fetched, but the possiblities, endless!!!!!
rant, rant, rant, rant,
Saw your show today about the Romeny ad concerning Obama's comment about others helping entrepreneurs. Question: Isn't that Bain's business - helping others while helping itself (to others efforts)??? Ayn Rand must be turning over in her grave.
