Democrats are ready to include a plank in their official party platform embracing the rights of gay couples to marry. The move reflects President Obama's evolution on the issue -- he said back in spring that same sex couples should be allowed to marry -- but it carries with it some political risk, especially if the platform calls for the federal government to prevent a state from determining its own marriage laws. After all, this issue drives older, conservative voters to the polls. On the other hand, the nation as a whole is also evolving on this issue, and the acceptance of same-sex marriage is fast becoming the mainstream.
Mitt Romney's International Insult Tour continues in Poland, where he's keeping an eye on swing states back home with sizable Polish populations -- Michigan, Wisconsin and Pennsylvania.
Politico's Roger Simon says Romney just should have stayed home.
A Romney press aide called reporters to apologize for telling them to "shove it" and worse after the candidate refused to answer questions from the press in Poland.

The left need to stop the intolerance . They need to Grow up, face facts and reality that not everyone has or will agree with their point of view It is getting a bit sickening and old how they intimidate, threaten and boycott anyone or anything that doesn't conform with the way they want or see things. GROW UP! STOP THIS OUTRAGEOUS DESPICABLE BEHAVIOR. Isn't it rather peculiar how the left impose all these bullying laws and it is they themselves who are the worse bullies of all ?
Wow, did that troll who was chased over to the real O'Donnell's site, Grandpa Fuzz, send you here as a relief pitcher?
You're not General Halftrack's wife, are you?
Cue up soundtrack of either the Beckhead or Humbaugh® talking about President Obama's deep-seated hatred for this country... Bring up the story of Mitt Romney and some of his preppie friends hazing a gay student... May we have a moment of silence for Matthew Shepherd and Dr. Robert Tiller?
Add background of review of stories of non-existent voter fraud being used to justify ALEC-orchestrated laws in states where Republican legislators hold power. Follow with Fast & Furious summary of Alabama nutwad whom FAUX Noise passed off as an "Internet Journalist." End with montage of Donald Trump at a podium with a splice of James O'Keefe's impersonation of a pimp that was used to neuter ACORN on trumped-up charges...
If the truth ever prevails, we're going to need treatment facilities for those who would go into "talking oinks® withdrawal."
My apologies, of course, if this is actually a spoof, and you're really Stephen Colbert.
Barbara .... WHAT? Can you give an example of intolerance of the left in regards to Romney's Whirlwind overseas insult tour?
Or are you even trying to make sense?
Barbara O'Donnel,
Are you stupid? Intolerance from left? Are your mommy and daddy 1st cousins? Do you live in a "red-state?" Do you believe what they tell you on Fox News and Clear Channel (Rush & Beck)?
Facts and Reason, and science are reality, not what some salesman (excuse me, Pastor) told you and how to think, thinking is good thing, try it some time!
My Advice: Find a Man, with a real big d**k, and get your mind right, in the mean-time the Fox News blog is not here!
Truly, the conservatives live in a fantasy world. The professional Psychological Societies need to classify conservative thought or belief as a mental problem. One where clearly they do not see their own hypocrisy, hatred and the damage they do.
Some people with mental problems are functional because they recognize their deficiencies and therefore can easily be treated through the use of therapy, drugs etc but others are much more difficult because they don't recognize their deficiencies. It seems obvious conservatism falls into the latter classification.
Of course I'd like to see an example of "all these bullying laws," passed by the Democrats. But beware because everyone here can list a minimum of ten "bullying laws" passed by the Republicans for every one (if you can even list one) passed by the Dems. If you can't list one we'll be happy to list 20, 30, 40 or 50 such laws passed by the Republicans in the last TWO YEARS alone, if you so desire not that it would wake you from your clear slumber of ignorance and hatred.
I hope you are not talking about the Democrats ,if so the repuplicans are to me the worst to be caring about their own people. If they had a decent person to try to put into the White House things might be different,I think Romney is the worst person to want to be President.Every time the Republicans screw up which is often you Republicans blame the Democrats. They are trying to help the country but the Republicans always turn down good things for their people and leaving the poor poorer and the rich richer. It isent the Democracts that are the bullies it is the Republicans with their greedy tatics. They only care about their rich friends and to hell with people who need health care and other things important to them, the Democrats are the better side and they are the best ones to help the country to get back on track,it might take a few years but Rome wasent built in a day.Obama has tried to help his country but the Republicans said when he got elected that Obama would only be a one term president so dont blame the Democrats for the way the country is going because the Republicans turned down almost everything the President asked for.It isent the Democrats who need to grow up its the other side.
Eat Your GAY Chick-fil-a tomorrow with your Pink shirt on. Cock-a-doolittle do!!
Of course the mainstream media isn't mentioning at all that the owner and CEO of Chick-Fil-A also mentioned at the exact same time, that he, and his family, and executives were also all still married to their original first wives which is what they also considered to be "family values," and "proper marriage." Which is fine, but if you're going to be preaching and excluding from your business door it's not only LGBT's it's also divorced and remarried straight people, whom he is against and who he believes are sinners in Gods eyes.
The Republicans in Congress are now, once again proposing to put doctors who perform abortions in jail. According to my reading of Roe v. Wade this is illegal legislation. This is the point these Republicans are continuously attempting to and sometimes successfully BREAKING THE LAW, by passing this kind of legislation. As soon as it is passed equal and fair rights groups will sue and go before the courts AGAIN and the law will be over turned AGAIN because the law clearly says no one can PREVENT women from having abortions.
This will cost the US taxpayers millions of dollars AGAIN. These Republicans have to go. All they do is waste our money over and over again and again on the same issues that have already been settled instead of passing JOBS BILLS or balancing the BUDGET!
Throw the Republican Bums OUT! They have no idea on how to run a government at all, nor do they know how our legal system works. All they do is waste our money and take what's left for themselves.
Let the gays get married, so they can be miserable like the rest of us!
Amazing that Willard Mittens Romney almost several international incidents in Great Britain with at least six major gaffes, then moved on to Israel where he nearly caused another major international incident in one of the most volatile regions of the world by insulting not only the Palestinians in general but insulting their culture and society. Well if he does get elected President there will be no progress there after that racist diatribe.
He also interestingly praised Israel for their healthcare system while criticizing ours which is hilarious since Israel's healthcare system is essentially Obamacare! Ha Ha Ha! Mittens is a clue puppy!
Now he is in Poland where he has refused to answer questions from the Press (of course he can't afford anymore gaffes), but his press secretary while telling the media to stop asking questions of Romney at a "Polish Holy site," adds, "Kiss my ass, this is a holy site for the Polish people show some respect." Ha Ha Ha! As a CHILD if I had said "Kiss my ass" at a holy site my mother would have kicked my ass! Ha Ha Ha!
This clown mittens and his staff better come home immediately before they cause anymore international incidents! They clearly have zero international chops! They clearly have zero political skills!
Now it's being said that one of his former business partners is claiming he hasn't paid taxes for ten years straight which is why he isn't releasing his taxes! He ain't poor he's worth a quarter of a billion dollars!
This guy isn't qualified to be the President of an ant hill.
Wow ! Did you see Barney Frank shaking his head and Squawking like a mad Turkey ?? LOL !! But ya know what, Barney can always be trusted to know the facts and set the record straight.. Barney is a true believer in " Fidelity To The Law "..
Boy Chris really ruffled that birds feathers : )
Mark
I don't blame him. "Journalists" want stories that stir up controversy and aren't worried about the fallout.
Look at just one of the many lies Rush Limpballs told today regarding the non-fact that the Brits hate their National Health Service. Ha Ha Ha! The Brits LOVE their health service! There isn't a single politician any where on any side, conservative or liberal that says anything but we support the NHS 100% in the UK because it has such overwhelming support!
But Rushbo doesn't care about misrepresenting the truth. He would rather lie to his audience as he does eery day to keep them angry and misinformed so that they keep listening to him just like the Germans listened to you know who back in WWII.
I would say that the majority of people and popular religions associate marriage to be between a man and a woman. Most believe that the term "marriage" is sacred. I am one of those people.
I think that everyone should be able to have some type of formal partnership that is recognized regardless of sexual preference. I would like to see the media shy away from using the words "gay marriage". It still carries a negative connotation with the right and various religions. I understand the purpose, but I would like to see the title changed.
Why can't we call it an domestic partnership and pass laws that would allow people to share the same benefits as a man and woman? Once the Democrats learn that the opposition is not against people being together, but against the words I think a change in public opinion is possible.
Oh is that the problem? It's the words.
People in a domestic partnership only enjoy a few of the rights, privileges, and benefits that a married couple enjoys. Some domestic partners are ineligible for their partner’s benefits like employment, inheritance, medical extension, financial status, immigration, adoption, visitation rights, taxes, educational, legal, property, Social Security, veterans, and pensions, among others. Partners are also not allowed to make decisions for their partner’s well-being in instances of medical emergency or legal representation. On the other hand, a spouse is automatically entitled to these benefits, rights, and privileges.
The problem has nothing to do with words. It has everything to do with people who are religiously intolerant of other people and people who do not wish to provide economic equality to others. The former should be obvious. The latter are simply the same rich folks who use everything at their disposal to "save" themselves money or more accurately divert money from others into their own pockets. If they can pay workers less, deny them health insurance, deny them pensions, make cheaper products and charge higher prices well all that extra money will go to higher CEO salaries and higher board member profits. Another way to do this is by denying marriage rights to as many groups of people as they can since spouses of employees get monetary rights and privileges.
Yes, there is often a disparity between how religion influences people's language usage...
If two married people "do it," it's called making love...
If two unmarrieds "do it," it's called fornicating...
If two members of the same sex "do it," it's called...
Okay, that last is a history question...
Don't try to snow us with that "public opinion" claim that the opposition isn't "against people being together." That's nonsense... How about hopping off the fence instead, and agreeing government doesn't belong in the bedroom?
Abomination, fhe Religious Right will name same sex "doing it". The Supreme Court has written its decision that what is done in bedroom is private.
Thanks Sed. :)
