On the first Friday of every month between now and November, the White House will anxiously wait for the jobs numbers. And today's are a mixed bag at best. The economy added 163,000 jobs -- higher than analysts expected -- as hiring picked up in July, but the all-important unemployment rate ticked up to 8.3%.
The fairness argument: Can the Obama campaign make the case that Mitt Romney wants to engage in class warfare that would take money from the middle classes and give it to the rich?
Paul Krugman writes that it's the scorched-earth policies of Republicans to blame for the middling economy and not the mistakes of President Obama.

Will Obama campaign be able make a case depends exclusively from money on hands for political advertisement. Lies repeated billions times became common sense. What is curious how term class is trivialized: owners to rich; professionals into middle classes.
In normal class theory owners hire professionals and pay them money for service. In pervert slang of democrats only change of taxes count. If professionals will pay more taxes to government from money they received from owners it proclaims that this money are given to owners. All income of professionals is from owners... All taxes come from owners. And if Obama is trying to prevent bankruptcy and foreclosures he is serving owners preserving status quo. Ha Ha Ha! Except for the first bailout of the banks which was done by the Republicans under Bush. The second bailout was voted first as a no go by the Dems but the "owners" of the Banks demanded a closed door meeting with the leaders of Congress and told them presumably that if they didn't receive a second bailout from the Dems we would go into a depression.
As far as taxes go the professionals are already paying 33%. It's the owners that are paying less than 15%. The liberals want them to pay 19% closer to everyone else. Except for some of us that would like to see their rates raised to 70% or higher.
So nice try on your false factoids there Leo. Fairness is only fair when the owners start paying the same rate as everyone else and they stop taking trillions in bailouts for their failures in business acumen from both parties, happily given from the R's and forced from the D's, but due mainly to deregulation or because they operate without rules/laws like everyone else.
Of course bailouts are only half the problem right? The LIBOR theft of hundreds of trillions again because of lack of rules and the trillions in hidden tax free money in tax havens again due to deregulation shows the extent of the lack of fairness and massive advantage given to the owners or upper class.
But these facts, and these trillions that are NOT being invested in business, jobs, R&D, real property, infrastructure, or societal improvement but instead hoarded by the super rich are just fine with you. This is a total waste of resources in every way, in every economic model and a sin in the strict capitalistic theory. The current upper class are cowards and horrible businessmen. To argue otherwise shows your complete lack of understanding of economic and capitalistic theories. Money not invested are wasted resources and a sign of the worst possible business leaders.
The Walton family now owns more money than the lower 40% of America combined yet they pay far less than 15% in taxes. That's one family! They don't feel they owe anymore to this society that has given them so much? Where did they get all that money from? From American consumers. From paying low wages, poor benefits to their employees and redirecting that wealth to themselves while paying the absolute minimum back into the system they utilize to make all that wealth.
Our infrastructure is crumbling, the very infrastructure they utilize everyday. This is the problem with the upper class. Users, vultures, vampires who take and give nothing back.

Replacing word "wants" by "needs" and picture spoiled child asking more and more toys made in China on the money borrowed in China is replaced by serious faces of TV-financial analysts of Wall Street plutocrats these gave all the money for Obama 2008 campaign.
The perverse logic is trying to blame liberals for the failure of the totality of the Republican party to stop tax breaks for the shipment of American jobs and industry to China and elsewhere. At least the majority of Democrats have tried to stop these breaks on multiple occasions.

What exact legal act you are talking about? Who was both parties co-sponsors of the bill? Who voted for who against? Who was president who signed the bill for shipping jobs abroad? Was is literal language of the bill "shipment of American jobs and industry to China and elsewhere"? Or it is just blue smoke propaganda as usual?

Twice in the last two years the GOP has blocked bills sponsored and brought up for vote by Dems to deny tax breaks for companies outsourcing American jobs. There have been a half dozen more in the last 5 years. Use you Google search as there are literally dozens of articles in dozens upon dozens of periodicals each and every time the bills were blocked. Every single Republican stood in favor of the filibusters and use the same old tired argument "our economy cannot withstand regulating business in this economy." Literally EVERY periodical including the most conservative like The Wall Street Journal, have articles on this. Check dates July 23, 2012 and in 2010. If you cannot keep up with the most important bills of our time because your busy making bogus fact free arguments regarding fake political philosophies I'm certainly not going to waste my time on you.

Yes! More economy work could/should have been done in 2008-2010, but the Affordable Care Act (ACA) took up a disproportionate amount of time (14 months), intentionally or accidentally. That legislation cost the Democrats dearly (namely, the House and leverage on the economy). You rub salt in the wound, because you don't care about the ACA in general. Well, I do care about the ACA, and hopefully enough voters will have faith that the ACA will help them once its in full effect.

The class warfare / fair tax debate is focused on what is taken from our income as a rate of what we make without addressing the first part of the whole equation being what we make. While taxes have dropped mostly for the wealthy and large corps, wages have flattened relative to worker productivity since 1973. Until 1973, wages tracked just under but at the same rate of climb as productivity and the difference represented profit to employers. That is the sum total of the basic American work agreement: You work for wages and if you want more you work more. That is an individual and socio-economic responsibility that has been violated the last 40 years. The media and our representatives do not recognize this. In fact, they are saying that the average worker must sacrifice entitlements they’ve paid into for all their lives as their contribution to righting our economic condition because the public cookie jar has been raided for 40 years in the manner described in this post. The distribution of wealth as both income, cost of living (our cost to simply exist is taxed) and taxes favors the wealthy in all parts of this equation.
Let presume that taxes on owners, employers, will be increased. What will be most natural response from them? Obviously they will want to compensate lost in taxes and will looking for source of more profit. Where - in increase productivity, firing part of professionals and reducing wages for those who left. OK democrats will achieve proclaimed goal - less taxes on middle class by the cost of reducing salary.

First of all lower taxes on the rich has produced fewer jobs, lower salaries and fewer benefits over the last forty years. The only exception has been Clinton when he increased the taxes on the rich and created 23 million jobs, increased wealth, balanced the budget and created a surplus.
The EXACT same principles of lower taxes on the rich created the Great Depression by Hoover. Higher taxes on the rich and stimulus spending got us out of the Great Depression. These are proven facts not ridiculous theories.
Get a history book and keep going back in time in not only this country but all western countries to see this principle repeated over and over again by both conservatives and liberals.

End of Great Depression was provoked by greatest strategic blunder in history produced by Japan. German legalized prostitution in 2002. In both cases success was not triggered by increasing taxes.
I cannot recall one case in history when there was established connection between increasing taxes and improvement in employment situation. It could coincide with technological revolution like hi-tech, atom energy, electronic money and so on. But influence of higher taxation by itself is more or less noticeable suppression of business activity.
Do the wealthy really think that indifference to the plight of the masses will work for them? Maybe in the short-term, but not for much any lasting length of time. Look through history.
I did looked through history and find a lot curious events. And very rare occasions when advocates for masses haven't transformed into cruel oppressors as soon they got machine of governance in their disposal.
There are always two pyramids in society one of them is a wealth distribution and other represents contribution of individuals for well-being of society. If in both of them individuals are on approximately the same level society is effective and fair. If president is Obama basic factory of the country is corrupt.
