As Phil Collins once uttered, "Tonight I'm gonna make it right tonight, tonight, tonight....ohhh ohhhh". That's right, the seemingly forgotten man of the 2012 Republican National Convention, Mitt Romney, is slated to deliver his big acceptance speech tonight in Tampa.
Ezra Klein of the Washington Post (and MSNBC) is a bit befuddled by the fact that, although the two other headline speeches by Chris Christie and Paul Ryan were rousing, they didn't make "much sense as endorsements of Mitt Romney".
Speaking of Paul Ryan's speech, the general consensus is that he got off to a nervous start, but dazzled the convention hall after that. But, there is major criticism that Ryan not only dazzled, but deceived as well, coming up short on the truth on a number of assertions he made about President Obama.
Chris Cillizza tagged Ryan as one of the winners on Day 2 of the RNC, but also was very impressed by the speech given by former Secretary of State, Condoleezza Rice. Dr. Rice's speech actually won universal praise by the press and pundits and sparked speculation that she could be a major force in Republican circles if she decided to run for higher office.
Meanwhile, about 650 miles to the west of Tampa, Hurricane Issac unleashed its fury on New Orleans and the surrounding areas. More major flooding is expected as the monster storm moves inland.

This proves that the founding fathers not only believed in public health care but also believed in mandates. It also proves that Republican leaders as well as their base are either prevaricators, unaware of history and facts, or both.

Fox News and the right wing radio talkers have been furious that Obama has been such a great speaker as compared to George W Bush which is one of the reasons Fox never broadcasts any of Obama's speech's but also why they all started criticizing his use of the teleprompter. Susanna Martinez Governor of NM got massive tax cuts for the rich and corporations in New Mexico over a year ago promising they would create jobs as all Republicans do but instead NM has lost hundreds of thousand of jobs instead. I am very saddened by the cruel rants of Matthews. As is my major gripe with Hannity, Mathews interrupts his guests after asking them a question. Hannity is at least gracious when he disagrees. Cow boy, MItt's father was mint back in the day when the CEO's were not little mini gods who simply took all of the power and gave nothing back to the people who did the work in the company to make it a success. Mitt is not the noblese oblige businessman, the one who showed 12 years of taxes, and was born in a poor foreign country. Maybe some compassion or at least some knowledge that life is struggle for most of this world dawned on Dad. Being an immigrant myself, I can not imagine not wanting to give back for all I have gotten living here.
It is not Mitt's money or that he did work hard to get where he is today. It is the lack of insight, the "I did this myself" and I have no obligation to the country that gave me such opportunity, education, and freedom to be a success. It beckons back to if you think you should serve your country in some way for the public good. So we have a candidate who is going into a public service job with a corporate attitude, what strange bedfellows. JFK, ask not what your country can do for you..
