Let me finish tonight with last night's disaster.
You get nowhere in life by not realizing what's done is done.
President Obama was not prepared for his huge debate with Governor Romney. This isn't about left, right, good, or bad. It's about coming to work to work.
His challenger did. He took charge. He took command of that stage, issuing orders to moderator and rival alike. He owned that platform, owned all within the sound of his voice. It was impressive, powerful. It must have been horrible to feel the smothering, all-enveloping sufficiency of the thing. With Romney in the room, there didn't need to be anyone else.
So I'm not here to slam Obama for a hard night. My concern—and that's what it is—is his readiness to skip the politics of this campaign. There's no excuse for a democratic leader to think himself excused from politics—and today that means mastering the 24-hour back and forth, the war room stuff that gets you elected, protects you from being destroyed either on the way to public office or once there.
Simple question: Did the President know he was allowed to mention—in fact, champion—his saving of the American auto industry? Did he know he was allowed last night to interrupt that pissant conversation about PBS funding to say, "Excuse me, let's talk the big stuff. I rescued the American auto industry and the hundreds of thousands of jobs working for it. You, sir, were willing to have it go bankrupt."
Did Obama know he could interrupt his rivals expressions of concern for Social Security folk with the news that his rival tells his wealthy backers behind closed doors something very different: how he sees people who rely on Social Security as parasites.
Did Obama know he could interrupt Romney's weeping for Medicare with a timely reminder that he, the man standing there with him, wants to give 80 year-olds "vouchers" and send them out to fetch a health insurance policy. Who's going to give them that? Old age and being elderly is no time to hit the health insurance market. It's a time of life when you should reap the just benefit of having paid into Medicare your entire working life, not some terrifying moment of "every man and woman for themselves."
One last pair of questions: Did the president know that Mitt Romney just said that we don't let people die in their apartments; we take them to the emergency room, that that is his health care plan. Did the president know that Romney had said that people who didn't have continuing coverage shouldn't get covered for pre-existing conditions, that it was simply their fault for not having paid up all those years?
Well, the whole thing could have gone a whole other way.

Chris; maybe he was feeling a little ill from the altitude? Something he ate? His eye contact was terrible. I've always been impressed with his speaking and debating skills - until today. Here's hoping he learns from his mistakes. We desperately need his leadership.
Robert
Obama's eye contact was good in the beginning, by the end he was furious at how the rules of the debate were completely disregarded. Saw that look in 2008 in the ABC primary debate.
As I said down thread, Obama's strategy was to win undecided women and block Romney from gaining on the women vote. And it worked, women were turned off by Romney's performance. They liked what Obama said and did.
Chris needed what a guy wants to hear and see. I want Obama to win the election, and I appreciate him keeping calm and sticking with the strategy.
"It's the women, stupid." So obvious.
We all see through Romney, but willfull non-performance of the president not only deminishes his campaign and the hard work and money of his supporters. It deliberately placed the campaign in jeopardy, when Obama could have put Romney down for the count.
Again, Obama didnt deliver, very simple. The left has a right to be critical, they are also Investors and "stakeholders" in an election that could mean more war, very possibly nuclear, taxs, supreme court, etc. This is a stakes game with a lot of chips on the table, the Obama no show illustrates how little he undertands or does not appreciate the profoundness of his position.
I really don't think we need to be all doom and gloom about this. Please don't believe that President Obama didn't know what to do, we know better. What happened is that the president got Mitt Romney to talk about almost every aspect of his un-workable fabrication of a plan, he got him to over extend himself on a few things, and he got him to tell the rich they weren't getting a tax break.
Instead of getting into a silly argument in front of a bunch of people that would make him look small, the president offered accurate information that dis-credited Romney on several points Additionally, they now have Romney on record, providing specific points to attack from now till election day. I'm sure by now there is enough in the archives for them to produce a video in which Romney himself discredits most of what he said last night.
Obama was the cagey attorney who prevented his opponent from getting stuff in front of the jury. Look how Romney had to make is "I was all wrong about the 47%" on FOX instead of on the national debate stage. And so on.
Chris, you are way, way off on this. This is the Big Bird Debate, mark my words. Women hate the way Romney behaved, they love Big Bird, and this will turn out to be a disaster for Romney, not Obama. Get a grip and focus, Chris.
The President's performance was a huge letdown to those of us who supported him for so long(i.e., before Iowa in 2008). His supporters deserve better and hopefully the response from his own side will ignite the spark that has been absent. Whether or not he wants to win the election, those of us who have supported him want it to be won. The campaign is far larger than his ambitions: it's about the hopes of those who stood with him in 2008, who have supported his policies for the past 3-1/2 years, the students, the underemployed, the fearful middle class, and in my case, the physicians who stood by and enthusiastically supported the Affordable Health Care Act, and so many others. As I make my contribution of money to the campaign, it feels less like a contribution to a candidate who really wants the win and more like a vessel for our hope. Prove me wrong, Mr. President and show that you still have the grit for the fight!
MR.President,where had your"MOUTH"been?you really looks tired"LAST9NT"this is your CRUCIAL 40days left for the"LEFT"in your PRESIDENCY OK?.Keep that"POLITICAL TONGUE"for the middle class.Atleast"WIFFY"can wait after 20years.@
The President made an assessment that no one else was able to make and it can be summed up as MITT was MANIC.
And when dealing with a person who is MANIC you don't confront their DELUSIONAL MIND with contrary facts. It just doesn't work.
MANIC people are sad to watch when we realize that their departure from the truth into their alternate reality is energized by the DELUSION OF GRANDUER which they are seeking.
The same condition that we found in another infamous person who was thought to have magical powers of wealth making......
BERNIE MADOFF
Good call- I agree
I began listening to the debate on the car radio and could not believe Romney's appearance when I turned on the TV. He looked totally over stimulated. A manic episode makes so much sense. A rational human being would not tell such obvious lies on National television.
It's either that or a pretty obvious--and severe--personality disorder (extreme narcissism bordering on sociopathy). Might be what's behind Ann Romney's "worries" about her husband's mental health. She may have been enabling this stuff for years....
And here's our local cartoonist's take on the subject (Cabdriver confession: I was privileged to spend some time with Pat Bagley's older brother tonight, a nice antidote to the angst from seeing the debate).
http://www.sltrib.com/sltrib/opinion/55027875-82/bagley-cartoon-facebook-lake.html.csp
So I’ve heard all the discussion about the debate detail. They can say what they want about the minutia. Either Obama got bad advice or…he was caught flat footed and….insufficient…in my opinion. The main thing is that last night they kissed off 53,000,000 viewers and today he was talking to 30,000 in Madison today. That was not a smart decision.
NOt sure how connected you are to social media, but Big Bird is on the bread line all over Facebook, YouTube and Twitter. Romney really blew it on that one. And the audience is gigantic! When you become a laughingstock you're done, IMO.
Chris,
You and Ed were the epitome of the Republican party last night and I am deeply disappointed in your reaction to Obama's performance. You turned on him. After watching the debate I did not feel the President did a bad job at all and I dont think allot of people did with the exception of right wingers and YOU. You all distracted from the fact that Romney was lying thru his teeth by attacking the President so hard. You made the story Obama's performance instead of Romney lies.
You fueled enthusiasm for Romney with your reaction. I could even see Steve Smith emboldened because he saw your reactions and an opening, a weakness, a weakness you amplified.
After you all began dissing the President, then you produced the aftermath because you came back on him way too hard. You made him look bad. The headline I saw was 'Pundit's say Obama Lost Debate'. Not VOTERS SAY OBAMA LOST! You became the story! So of course everyone who saw your reactions then began to think the same way and every Republican that read that headline jumped on the reality you fabricated.
I have been watching Republicans jump on Romney and or attack their fellow Republicans like sharks feeding on themselves every time they make one mistake. You all looked just like that last night. Calm down, be patient and show some confidence in Obama. You made him look bad last night, not him. Chill out.
Here, Here.
Not all that surprising- just remember how Chris & Keith Olberman totally turned on Hilary Clinton in '08? Have never thought the same of either of them since then. I PRAY the President will wake up before the next debate, or we are screwed!
Well stated!
Chris-
It is a sad day for America when a candidate is considered to have "won" a debate because they overwhelmed the moderator and lied with enthusiasm.
Chris...
What do you mean when you say you don't like to call Mitt Romney's lies what they are?
Lies.
You sit here and bash the President for not calling him out while at the same time YOU are afraid to call Romney a liar.
I thought the Cons were hypocritical... but you just blew them out of the water with those statements.
Stick your backbone back in, Chris, and start calling Mitt Romney what he is when he does it.
He is a liar who lies.
Chris wanted to call Romney out on the Auto Industry, right Chris. Romney would have a HAY DAY on that one.
The President's guile and discipline are apparently too subtle for Chris.
Ha Ha Ha Yes I'm sure you would have loved to see what lie Mittens would have pulled out for the Auto Industry argument Magic! Ha Ha Ha!
DID MITT SAY "FLIP"
Chris, stop throwing our President under the bus. If you cannot help him at this point, than stop hurting him. And does anyone need to remind you that undecided voters watch your show?
I think Chris is more out of control than Obama.
The POTUS just didn't do what they wanted him to do. That's all.
Chris doesn't want to lose the thrill up his leg
I agree Margaret. Mittens was baiting him with blatant lies. They wanted O to get angry and make the obvious attacks regarding the lies to which Mittens would have had his "Zingers" on the ready.
The President, however, did neither. He let Mitt lie and flip flop to the public. Now the President who hasn't debated in four years knows Mitts style and plan and has to an extent defused his attack.
The idiots on the right view lies and obfuscation as victory because that's all they ever do. They see the Public as stupid. We don't.
However, the smart Republicans, like Sununu, were furious because their plan of attacking the POTUS for being an "angry black man," and praising Mittens for his clever come backs was completely stifled. So instead he came out and attacked the President for the other black racist stereotype. He said the POTUS was "lazy," and inept.
We all knew Mittens was a liar and a flip flopper. It's easy to say "cut taxes." It's hard and takes a leader to say where to cut taxes. It's easy to say I want 5 trilllion in tax cuts to Congress and then make them make the hard choices. Do you honestly think these lazy, do nothing Congressmen will do that work?
Mittens isn't a leader. He takes the easy way out and is just as lazy as the rest of the Republican in Congress.
Vote straight Democrat 2012. GObama.
Disappointed in your assessment of the debate. You turned so easily. Mittens lied over and over and you did not point that out and the POTUS was appalled that he had to attempt to debate this manic individual. I have learned that you cannot argue with a liar. So easily you gave in and gave out. Disappointed in your analysis as it showed no thought for the substance and content only considered the way it looked.
Marg, would explain how Romney lied. You Libs keep saying this, but nobody will answer.
How about the reality that folks like you lack the perceptual acumen to recognize lies...
Now which is it? Is it deliberate or simply some deep-seated psychological issue (I'll leave it to others to decide whether that one is nature or nurture) that creates a blindness to the obvious?
Here are a couple of samples: Mitt claiming to "love" teachers and then giving a stump speech praising what happened in Ohio...
The "Green Energy" claim that half of the three dozen companies with loan guarantees are "out of business," when in fact there are only three? Bain didn't have that good of a turnaround record (while they secured benefits and concessions from governments for their operations).
The "I'm not going to cut taxes for the wealthy," when, in addition to the Bush-era tax cuts (which contributed to mightily to the deficit still being blamed on the President), he's proposed further increases to lower the rate from 35% on high income earners.
SLC
Serving up reality to the reality-challenged since 2001
Your So full of Bull Crap. Not one of those green energy are working. Their out of business, under bankrupt protection or been bought out, so cut the crap. And NO you don't Raise taxes even on the wealthy. You cut Corp Tax to 25% which now that knuckle head Obama will agree After he finally discovered how big a fool he his. We must be doing it right, Even the hypocrite Obama want the Bush Tax cuts continue. Just can't believe Libs WOW WOW
Man, I hate it when I have to convene a Remedial English class for a seventh grader who thinks he can argue with the college grad crowd...
It's "you're" not "your"; you need verb agreement, i.e. "not one... is working" it's "they're" not "their"; the word "of" is missing in your screed, and it should read "Obama wants."
You're a poster child for the need for improvements in education, gonzo...
Something Mitt said he was in favor of after he said he was against hiring more teachers. It is nice the way you emulate his dishonesty, however, by attempting to imitate it.
Do a Google search on 'mitt romney lies list' and you will find 61.4 million places. The same search on 'barack obama lies list' finds 23.1 million but many of the sites on that list match the ones on the mitt romney list and list mitt romney lies. Many sites on 'mitt romney lies list' show 616 lies in 33 weeks. These statements are checked independently by those sites, sites that want to be credible to the general public or they will go out of businness. That is 2 1/3 lies PER DAY. Here are some notable examples.
Contrary to Mr. Romney's statements, the President's Affordable Care Act takes $716 billion from Medicare to fill the prescription drug 'donut hole' the Bush Administration left in his Medicare prescription drug plan AND funds preventative tests and screenings so seniors can avoid more expensive treatments for diabetes and cancer later in life, therby driving costs down and extending the fiscal life of Medicare without denying patients any care.
Contrary to Mr. Romney's statements, the President granted the requests of governors who want to try their own welfare to work programs. Mr. Romney must feel this is a good idea since Mr. Romney made the same request.
Contrary to Mr. Romney's statements, the President decreased budget deficits from $1.4 trillion to $1.1 trillion. This is in spite of the fact that a jobs bill sits stalled in Congress which would add taxpaying workers, reducing the deficit still further.
Contrary to Mr. Romney's statements, the President can balance the budget by raising taxes simply by following President Clinton's formula. I guess President Clinton is a better businessman if he can do something Mr. Romney cannot.
Contrary to Mr. Romney's statements, the Tax Policy Center (numbers used by Mr. Romney to attack his Republican opponents earlier this year) puts the cost of Mr. Romney's tax rate cut at $4.8 trillion. The same place cannot find enough deductions in the tax code to eliminate to replace $4.8 trillion (no one else can, either).
It is evident that Mr. Romney lies. Those who think differently can delude themselves all they please but can be ignored here.
Ha Ha Ha As always Magic you are wrong! Ha Ha Ha! Here's the article that shows not only massively successful alternative energy companies across the nation, but companies that are owned and run by Republicans who are furious with Mittens for suggesting that we cut the subsidies! Ha Ha Ha!
huffingtonpost.com/2012/10/01/new-colorado-specific-ad-_n_...
China is investing 100 times more than us in this technology which means idiots like you are simply letting countries like China and Germany overtake us in this new marketplace just like we overtook Russia in the Nuclear and Scientific markets in the 50's, 60's and 70's. That's why you are an undereducated moron who shouldn't talk about these issues with us and should just repeat your lies and myths to your fellow ditto heads if you don't want to look like a total fool.
Look. Here's the real deal. Obama knows very little about the economy and job creation. When cornered, Obama reverted to quoting his old talking points and touting outdated accomplishments. He didn't have a script written by someone else. He didn't have a a teleprompter. He didn't have an ear piece to receive messages. He was up there on his own with a man who's made a career out of economics. Simply put, he was outclassed. He's been describing Romney with fictional information for so long he truely believes it. So when he faced a totally different Romney than the fiction Obama Romney, he wasn't prepared. The truth will always, ALWAYS, come back to haunt you. You can't spout lies forever. Eventually, the masses will learn the truth. And that is what is happening now. Obama was unmasked last night. He's a celebrity who just likes being popular. He's not a leader. He's lazy and not very inovative. And that's what I took from the debate last night.
troy -- I couldn't say it any better. Thumbs up.
I'm with Vice President Biden. Romney knows all about job creation...
In Singapore, Malaysia, India, and China....
SL Cabbie
Joe an idiot period,Ryan will prove that on the 11th. And Obama hasn't shipped jobs out on his Green Energy. Again CLAIR your bending the truth. Liberal Lie at it's best.
Get your mother to read today's jobs report article, mudgic...
And then look at how Congress has failed to pass a jobs bill, which would've put the employment figures below 6%,,,
You're just another in a long line of dumb @!$%#s who think they can win a swearing contest with a cabbie...
31 months (and counting) of private sector job creation say otherwise.
The largest reduction in the growth of health care costs in 30 years says otherwise.
Reducing the budget deficit by 21% during the deepest recession in 80 years and two wars say otherwise.
troy, it is apparent Mr. Romney wants to prove you wrong - 616 times and counting. He will prove you right by losing this election.
The masses are learning the truth - and Mr. Romney will be the worse for it.
Look here's the real deal Troy. For simpletons like you who believe in Santa Clause and fairies, being lied to by guys like Mittens and Fox and Rush the Debate was exciting. You believe when someone tells you he can lower you taxes by 20%, give you free health care, balance the budget give everyone a job, solve the social security, medicare, problems give you three wives and a new car all without a plan you're ecstatic because you're a moron.
The Republicans never pay for anything.
When was the last time the Republicans balanced a budget or got a surplus? That would be Eisenhower. Ha Ha Ha. When was the last time the blew a balanced budget and surplus? That was just a few years ago under BUSH. Ha Ha Ha. You guys are idiots with short memories.
The reason we have had a relatively short recovery (it took 16 years to recover from the Republican Great Depression) is because the Republican Congress has refused to pass 20 of Obamas jobs bills in a row. Ha Ha Ha
I agree that the president did not go for the jugular but I'm very satisfied with his performance.I found him to be calm and collective and while Mr. Romney dug him self into a deeper hole the president set out his plans very calmly and challenged Mitty to do the same which to no surprise he did not! I just want anyone who watched this debate to remember, not because you are louder doesn't mean you are right.
What a Brilliant Strategy!
By appearing to have lost the debate, Obama sealed his victory in November.
Undecided and independent voters are, by definition, those that are least driven by ideology. To the extent that they are true to their appellation, they tend to examine the candidates with relatively fewer prejudgements. They prefer clues to lectures. Obama's strategy was to throw bates, and then to stand back and let people watch Romney's behavior (which was none other than denying what he had advocated throughout his campaign). Remember the $5 trillion bate!
Yep, all that free videotape for the ads that will sink Romney once and for all... actually, he is pretty much underwater right now.
No more comments.
The Hardball show talked incessently about the POTUS not attacking Romney on his various untruths. They spent a lot of time on each untruth. The POTUS did not have that time. He should have made this statement, whenever Romney told an untruth, "It only takes Gov Romney a few seconds to say a lie, but it takes me lot longer to expose the lie. I only have 2 minutes."
Chris:
Was It A Debate Challenge for President Obama? Maybe Not. Food for Thought.
We need to recognize that we have a clever President. He is constantly thinking about what is the best move, that will give the ultimate results, for his mission.
Now, I know many say, "Why didn't President Obama, say this or that…" — "Romney won…" and so on, during the Oct. 3rd debate.
One thing you must admit, President Obama has always been a consistent broker. He knows his policies through and through. He knows his opponent, is a dodger, a flip-flopper and basically a habitual liar. Putting a hand up to faces of the naysayers, the President has accomplished some important political and policy wins, despite the stalemating of a Republican controlled Congress.
So what we should be asking ourselves is how is it possible for him (Our President) to come off so timid, at such an important event, with over 60 million of the citizenry watching, with eyes wide. Not to mention the thousands or even millions that were watching via the internet, worldwide.
Has anyone considered that the president may have been playing Romney. Allowing Romney to come out full force — as one of his many faces.
We Americans tend to get, too emotional about things. I know, because I'm one of them.
But, President Obama, has read the book, "The Art of War", and it is evident in Wednesday performance that he was using it:
Quotes from the Art of War:
The general who advances without coveting fame and retreats without fearing disgrace, whose only thought is to protect his country and do good service for his sovereign, is the jewel of the kingdom.
Sun Tzu
Pretend inferiority and encourage his (the opponent's) arrogance.
Sun Tzu
Be extremely subtle, even to the point of formlessness. Be extremely mysterious, even to the point of soundlessness. Thereby you can be the director of the opponent's fate.
Sun Tzu
He who knows when he can fight and when he cannot, will be victorious.
Sun Tzu
If you know the enemy and know yourself you need not fear the results of a hundred battles.
Sun Tzu
Supreme excellence consists in breaking the enemy's resistance without fighting.
Sun Tzu
You must admit that the President's performance, allowed Romney to sing like a bird, albeit they were mostly lies. But, Romney's lies has put a millstone around his neck, with the large yellow sticker of "VOUCHER CARE" stuck to his forehead, to be carried for the next 32 days, for all to see.
We have to watch the remaining debates, and the next 32 days like spectators at a Chess Match. A dead pawn here, a dead Bishop there, and a dead Rook, means absolutely nothing to a seasoned chess master.
I agree with your comments 100%. I felt that he let Romney have diarrhea of the mouth and spout lie after lie after lie. It would have turned into a "liar, liar, pants on fire" situation. Our president is wise and clever. He let the demon spew his fire of lies for the world to see. Yesterday, the President was wonderful and began disputing what Romney said. Keep up on the news everyone. Watch several stations. People who just watch Fox are not getting the real picture.
Great points and thanks for the Eastern thought. Nobody has concluded that Obama took a more Mahatma Gandhi approach of peaceful non resistence. It is just the crazy Westen mind that always is so busy thinking violence that it tends to forget Mahatma brought down the entire British Empire without firing a shot. This 90 lb. dark skinned man simply sat and held in consciousness that "all men are created equal" which brought the weak Imperialsm forced on a nation right to it's knees.
Thank you Robinson, thumbs up for the Tao ....
Was It A Debate Challenge for President Obama? Maybe Not. Food for Thought. (Cont'd)
The other thing that came to my mind is that President Obama has to be a very formidable chess player. Why? Because he knows how to draw others into his bait of "Check Mate".
I came across this article online about the US Presidents that played/play chess and how the game afforded them to discover their opponents weak points and exploit the advantage of well targeted preparation.
(Note: Before your readers start freaking out about, the president is an elitist because Chess is considered the game of Kings— I am an African American. Actually many in our community play this game. In Michigan, where I was born, you can find African American men (especially) young and old, playing the game at our waterfront park (Hart Plaza) during many of Detroit's Ethnic festivals. I remember some of the suburban visitors watching in amazement, that many of these humble looking (low income) men were avid and pretty damn good chess players.)
Which US presidents played the royal game?
Of the 43 presidents of the United States, over the last 222 years, 24, i.e. more than half, have played and enjoyed chess. It started with the first president, George Washington, and ends with Barack Obama, who has occasional games with Michelle Obama.
George Washington (1789-1797)
Thomas Jefferson (1801-1809)
James Madison (1809-1817)
James Monroe (1817-1825)
John Quincy Adams (1825-1829)
Andrew Jackson (1829-1837)
Martin Van Buren (1837-1841)
Millard Fillmore (1850-1853)
Abraham Lincoln (1861-1865)
Ulysses S. Grant (1869-1877)
Rutherford Hayes (1877-1881)
James A. Garfield (1881)
Grover Cleveland (1885-1889)
Theodore Roosevelt (1901-1909)
William Howard Taft (1909-1913)
Woodrow Wilson (1913-1921)
Calvin Coolidge (1923-1929)
Franklin Roosevelt (1933-1945)
Harry S Truman (1945-1953)
Dwight Eisenhower (1953-1961)
John F. Kennedy (1961-1963)
Jimmy Carter (1977-1981)
Bill Clinton (1993-2001)
Barack Obama (2009-present)
Leo our resident troll claims that in his chess experience and knowledge, Obama blew it... it is good to see all of these names... oops forgot W....??? My limited experience when I was a therapist in hospital was you had to think many steps ahead and look at things a zillion ways. Great thinking skill.
I would imagine chess as a game for great linear thinkers rather than those of us who are more intuitive... mostly women.... your point is well taken. I thought it was more like poker where Obama learned the hand to be played and replayed by his rival.
Agreed. I for one stopped playing chess in college and now only play Go when playing a board type strategy game, (in truth I will on occasion play multi-level chess with my nieces and nephews as a teaching experience).
Obama played Romney for a fool. Mitt came off looking like a liar and flip-flopper which is how O has been portraying him all along. Only the Republican base is pleased. The Progressive pundits are upset because they wanted O to pounce but that would have too much for the average American to take. It was almost too much information as it was for the average viewer.
Chris, after the debate you rightfully went on a rant about Obama's missed opportunities to attack Romney. Today on Charlie Rose you became a totally different person with your non-stop admiration of Romney. Your performance tonight was almost identical to Obama's last night. What happened to your anger about Romney's complete reversal of most of his recent positions and the multiple lies he told about his positions? Tonight you almost completely dismissed Obama.
x
There was a disaster last night but it wasn't Obama's performance. It was your after-debate performance, Chris. You really lost it initially; then later you had Obama's entire debate strategy in your grasp and ignored it.
"It's the women, stupid."
There is a noticeable GENDER gap after the debates. Why do most women believe Obama was much better than Romney? Because Obama was talking to women, specifically undecided women voters. What men craved from the debates for testosterone reasons is not what moves women. Obama was emphasizing education, health care, the things women care about the most. He was likeable, appealing, smiling a lot. Romney was like the boss that every woman hates.
Romney has to win more female votes, he can't win with just white male votes. So Obama's strategy was the right one and he showed extreme self control in sticking with it and not being pulled in to Romney's manic performance.
I don't know how you didn't figure this one out when it was stated right on your show. Aggression and rudeness doesn't appeal to women voters!
Tom what woman would want a street activist leading this Great Nation. You really think there's an army of BIMBO's out there for Obama. These women rather EAT and have JOBS than watch BIG BIRD.
Don't you just love it when righties refer to women as "bimbos" or "sluts" and then complain about never getting laid?
Don't believe their testsoterone-fueled lies, BTW. I'm the guy who's in the front seat taking them home--invariably alone--on Friday and Saturday nights.
magic4u should really change his moniker to dellusionalFU - I'm left smiling here wondering if m4u has any girl friends - or any girls who even like him. l o l
Bimbos - that is how you, Romney and the GOP see woman voters who are intelligent and can think for themselves. B I M B O S are those woman who believe in standing up for themselves and for woman's rights.
B I M B O = Bright Intelligent Motivated Beautiful Outstanding woman!
Yeah we have changed our moniker to uppity women a long time ago...guess it takes time to get to the magic kingdom of wishful thinking..... if pigs could fly... we can ignore this brand of ignorance and know women are able to take great care of ourselves and really don't need men in our health care business....
magic4u #20.1
The woman who hers and her daughter's reproductive rights protected.
The woman who wants Medicare and not a voucher in her future.
The woman who wants her husband, sons, daughters and neighbors home and not fighting wars in Iran, Iraq, Syria, Lybia, Egypt, Yemen and anywhere else at the drop of a hat.
The woman who wants an education for her children and her neighbor's children.
The woman who demands truth coming from the White House.
The woman who demands fairness at the polling place, not supression.
The woman who has concern for the 47% Mr. Romney has no concern for.
Did I miss anything, Carol?
Tom G I totally agree that women do not like rude people and I am amazed that the rudness hasn't been talked about more. This was the President of the United States Romney was talking to. Just because it was a debate shouldn't diminish the fact that the President deserves respect. The majority of Americans elected this man. I am appalled at that behavior and I wonder what non Americans thought about someone treating our President like that. I think he diminished the office.
I think men are more likely to be rude but I don't think they like it anymore than women do. I think that the rudness hurt Romney. We have had a problem with civility this election and Romney keeps trying to pretend it isn't him, well it is directly because of him. When you try and use the known bigotry in this country to solicit votes it means you are picking from the bottom of the barrel because the average person understands and disagrees with your policies. People like the president and he has done an excellent job. I don't think Romney even comes close to being as qualified as Obama to running this country.
2 DAYS AFTER THE "DEBATE IN DENVER". I BELIEVE LOTS OF PEOPLE (ED SCHULTZ, CHRIS MATTHEWS) HAVE GOTTEN CAUGHT UP IN THE MOMENT. I too wanted the President to end this thing with Gov. Romney immediately with a complete and through destruction of the GOP candidate at this debate. HOWEVER, My President is a lot smarter than we give him credit. What I saw on Wed. night was a very, very, smart "chess like" strategic play. PRESIDENT BARACK OBAMA listened, took countless notes, and let Mitt Romney articulate more untruths that will come up on later occasions. Romney was drown out into much deeper waters and the safety of the shore is getting further and further out of sight. PRESIDENT OBAMA did the same identical thing to Donald Trump@the Correspondence Dinner , telling jokes and having a good time while at the same time he was hunting down BIN LADEN. THIS PRESIDENT IS A THINKER!!! How soon we forget.

OMG! Mitt Romney fired the moderator, Jim L., Big bird, and all of PBS. He said that one of things he will do, if elected, is cease and desist all funds to PBS in order to bring down the deficit and balance the budget. There goes Masterpiece Theater, Nova, Frontline, Boston Pops, July 4th at the Capital Mall, Sesame Street, Dora the Explorer, Clifford, the Big Red Dog, Oldies, etc., etc., etc.
Oh well, we still have Fox News.
Once again - Is anyone aware that Mitt Romney fired moderator, Jim L., Big Bird, and all of PBS during the debate? He said that he will, if elected, cease and desist all federal funds to PBS in order to bring down the deficit and balance the budget. There goes Masterpiece Theater, Nova, Frontline, Bostn Pops, July 4th at the Capital Mall, Sesame Street, Dora the Exploreer, Clifford, the Big Red Dog, Oldies, etc., etc., etc.

Irish -- check out Facebook, YouTube, Twitter. Big Bird is all over the place! The social media have picked it up and the story is viral. What a gaffe by Romney, and particularly damaging to any hopes he had of winning over some women. What mother hasn't sat her kid down with Big Bird, Ernie, Oscar and the gang? I know I have. By blowing the right wing ant-PBS dogwhistle, Romney drove a nail in his own coffin. That's one nail, two nails, three nails. .. how many are we up to, Count?
Ok,Obama was not himself, but Romney was definitely programmed with a recital of lies and told to keep talking and apparently allowed to. I guess Obama with his mannerism an precise explanations had problems determining which lie to answer first. Obama did provide information for those who listened and wanted to. The President had to be as surprised as many of us were at Romney's behavior and recited presentation. Mittens pulled it off, but not because he's the best candidate - be careful folks or you'll find yourself behind a different kind of bar!
You know, most people I talk to are more shocked at the behavior of the so-called experts than at the debate itself. Many have said to me, " I thought Obama did great and Romney acted like a jerk, what are these guys talking about?"
Walter Cronkite didn't get as out of control when Kennedy was shot as you did, Chris, because you thought Obama wasn't hyper enough. You bled all over the carpet when you should have been attacking the red meat Romney provided with all his lies. I am astounded, actually, at your behavior on this. I can't even force myself to watch your show and I usually watch it every day. I think this means good bye, Chris.
